Why OperatorIndex
Generic SaaS benchmarks lie. A 75% NRR is excellent in restaurant tech and average in horizontal HR SaaS. A 14-month CAC payback is brutal in property management and fine in insurance. Most public benchmark reports average across verticals and bury the only number that matters: how do your peers actually look?
What we do differently
- Vertical-by-vertical. 13 verticals, each with their own cohort — restaurant tech does not get compared to healthcare SaaS.
- Operator-submitted. Cohort percentiles are computed from operators who used the calculator with their real numbers, not from headline numbers in press releases.
- Verified attestations. When operators link their domain, those submissions are weighted into a private attested-cohort that public-filing scrapers cannot replicate.
- Honest about sample size. Every report shows the cohort size and the data-quality tier — public filings, analyst estimates, private submissions, or attested operators. No black-box numbers.
What we are not
We are not investment advisors. The benchmarks are reference points for operator decisions — pricing, hiring, fundraising prep — not a substitute for your own judgement.
Who runs it
OperatorIndex is built by Northtide Data Holdings, LLC — a US-registered company that also publishes VerticalEdge Briefing (weekly vertical SaaS briefing) and operates InventorySpread (newsletter ad arbitrage scanner). One profile spans all three properties.
